Spoken Word – What Will You Be?

WHAT WILL YOU BE?
(Written by Elsaphan Njora; Performed by Brian Ogola- pictured)

What will you be? Fearless
What will you be? Fearless
What will you be? Fearless

Times are changing and the world is colder
The paradox of the 21st Century considering the globe is warmer
Time is moving mercilessly, look at our kids
With 9-5 jibs, extra classes and traffic they are growing up with E, TMZ and
industry beef

What will you be? Fearless
What will you be? Fearless

Burst sewers and less time to sleep a guarantee every time it rains
Broken glass, looted stalls and bruises every time politicians have opposing views
Propaganda news, distracting headlines and useless hash tags with every scandal’s stain
Peaceful interactions only when they finally feel the brunt of the law they constantly circumnavigate in contrast to their comfortable seats of manipulation as when brew political milage to spew

What will you be? Fearless

The passive church, the silent choir and the toothless congregation
Broad day light robbery in the coffers, offerings and planted seeds
Sex scandals involving the innocence of our future leaders; toddlers, children; our children

What will you be? Fearless

Lost souls searching for home but turned away by self righteous indignation
Lost souls drowning in self pity and afraid that forgiveness belongs only to those who can recite Sunday school verses
Lost souls bloated with denial. Thinking they have time to mess up and then reform
Lost souls in need of help to find the end of dark tunnels full of imaginary monsters, real monsters and our monsters

What will you be? Fearless
What will you be? Fearless

To be the salt of a world that loves sugar coating can only be accompanied by relentless fearlessness
Fearlessness to live, to share, to love
Anything less will only result in an undistinguishable dish of loss, hollowness and lukewarm
Jesus didn’t die on the cross so that we can live with our heads under the ground
Instead he did it so that love can thrive despite the fear of death and crown

Mavuno what will you be? Fearless
Mavuno what will you be? Fearless
Mavuno what will you be? Fearless

He said if only we believe we will do even greater things

Believe!
Believe!
Believe!
